What was Your First Car?

Mine was a 1.6L Ford Escort.
Lovely little thing, never let me down. Took a few ladies out on dates in it and remember feeling like I was a proper adult once I had the independence of being able to drive.
£250 and lasted 4 years, never letting me down!

86 Vauxhall Cav Hatchback .
It drove like a brick the steering was atrocious and the engine blew up after two bloody weeks.
Easily the worst car I have ever brought.

Austin Cambridge, although like my namesake I took lessons in the Vauxhall Viva HA. Being 6ft 4 ins it was a tight squeeze in the HA.
The Cambridge rusted away quite quickly and was a write off at six years old. Still remember the reg no 22OHW.

White Mark2 Cortina 1600 with GT manifold. Remember going to see Sham69 (1979) with the lads in it, Lived in Hendon at the time,always getting pulled by old bill, Had to carry all documents with me,Suppose being 17 & a skinhead didnt help, Great days..

The most impressive old cars I've seen were a pair of three-wheeled racing cars which a couple of English blokes were driving across France.
The wheels looked like bicycle wheels.
However, I'm struggling to remember whether they had two wheels at the front or two at the back.
Which is odd, as I'd expect that to stick in my mind.

Same motor as I've got now, 2001 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, bought for £950 in January 2013. Still going, coming up to 120k miles on the clock...had a few visits to the garage to be fair and have probably spent an extra £1,000 on it on various things but other than that it's good.
Looking to upgrade soon to something new but just currently trying to save the little I can a month to get there

i saw an ancient VW Beetle yesterday. It had a physical indicator - a thing that popped out of the side of the car - which I'd completely forgotten about.

A twenty year old bmw 316 I bought off my brother for £50 I had it for a year and scrapped it, the same motor is worth about ten grand now in good condition.

Always wanted one, cost me half as much again to insure it. Put about 200 miles on the clock and the novelty wore off so sold it taking a massive hit

My first car was a FIAT Punto.
I liked it. Got written off when someone ploughed into the back of me while I was queuing for a roundabout.
Replaced it with a FIAT Punto of similar vintage. Unfortunately, this was the age when Puntos suddenly start turning into rust, and a couple of years later I would have had to pay more than it was worth to get it through the MOT.
I've now upgraded and can't believe I used to like my Punto.

1.1L Ford Fiesta Fanfare, Blue, plastic spoiler which actually would have created zero downforce unless I was travelling at something akin to 200 mph, but I have no doubts that at 100mph it would have fallen off anyway. It had pink musical notes on the side. I thought I looked cool, but in reality I looked like a cunt.
20 years almost later, and not much has changed.
